Story of the illustration:

Blaník is surrounded by many different legends, some of which probably originate in Celtic times. The legend of the army of warriors sleeping in the heart of the mountain, where they go to help their people, is spread throughout the Celtic world (Jan R. Plzeňský: Mysterious Mountain in the Heart of Europe). The main legend probably originated in the 15th century among the common people on the basis of an event where an enemy army was defeated in a marvelous and miraculous way at the southeastern foothills of Blaník, near the village of Býkovice. Around 1470, Nicholas of Vlásenice (Milan Vodička: Blaník? Rather Blaniak, MF DNES 1997) preached an army hidden in the mountain.
The content of the legend: Inside the mountain, the army is waiting for it to be the worst for the Czech nation. His commander himself is the patron of the country, Czech St. Wenceslas. At the moment when our country is in the biggest distress, the green oak in Blaník and the spring below it will dispense so much water that the well will overflow and the water will flow down the slope. Then the so-called "Public Rock" will be opened in the mountain, the knights inside will wake up from deep sleep and, under the patronage of the Czech lands, set out against enemies, defeat them, and peace and quiet will come again in the Czech Republic. , pages 67 and 112.)
